With pick-ups in Cheltenham and Cirencester it makes the camp even more accessible …………. and is nearly full already!! At this rate we will need a coach!

We’ve managed to negotiate a great discount for early booking and have fantastic professional coaches lined up for the week. All this for less than £100 a day!

We will have the “live” area of the website available for camp members to view within a couple of weeks…………..and the “all important” hoodies are in design!!

We have John Kelman coming as our shooting coach. John has coached for many years with students shooting in the Commonwealth Games, Junior World Championships and representing Wales.

The riding will take place at the nearby Curridge Green Riding School, licensed by Berkshire Council and providing numerous well qualified coaches.

The Fencing coach will be Kevin Nelson. He is head coach at Cotswold Fencing Club as well as being a British Academy of Fencing coach, and coach to Dean Close School and Cheltenham Ladies College in Cheltenham.

Our swim coach will be Brockhurst & Marlston’s own ASA qualified Tracy Jefferis.

There will be other members of staff throughout the week helping to make the week great fun for all attendees and I cant wait!

Ronin began the Stage Combat course for BuccaneerBlades at The Oratory School last week and I was lucky enough to drop in and find a room of busy stranglers!!

He had all the children spellbound and they cant wait for the next instalment of film tricks of the trade. Very exciting for all concerned especially when they know he has taught Blue Peter’s presenters to swordfight.

Congratulations to Emma, Rachel and Maddie. Also great results for the fencing (5th, 5th and 12th) as it was Rachel and Maddies first competition!

Ivor is the Chair of Directors Guild of Great Britain and has been staging fights for over 30 years, and is familiar with a wide range of martial arts and weapons. His “Stagefight 101” workshops ran at the National Student Drama Festival from 1987-2007.

We have Ronin Traynor, resident fight director at the West Wing Arts Centre and a freelance choreographer, actor and fight performer running a Stage Combat course at the Oratory School in Goring Heath after Easter. He is also the secretary of the  British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat.

They got the chance to watch some wonderful fencing as well as speak with Olympians, European, and World champions.

Everyone was very welcoming and took the time to answer their questions and give autographs!

The senior fencing club took on St.Neots Prep school who came over for the afternoon. The matches were foil and although Brockhurst put up a great fight St. Neots competition experience showed and they walked away with wins in all but one bout.

We are looking forward to the re-match though when we will take them on with Epee or Sabre (both of which are practised more at Brockhurst).

Next week sees the Junior fencing club take on Welford & Wickham Primary School.

We are just loading them on to the site and hope to have them all up in the next few weeks but as a sample here is the first one for the site and a big “Thankyou” goes to the Brockhurst & Marlston student who took so much time and care to kick off our Olympic Challenge.

Special congratulations to the Gloucester club contingent who came back with three medals (at my last count!) and the Wycliffe Club team who came back with at least three medals! 

Special mentions to Felix who did extremely well (even warranting a comment of complete disbelief from his referee when told he has only been doing foil for 3 weeks!) and to Adam who had the most nail-biting of finals and only finally lost at 10/9 having played the most “difficult match to ref of the day” according to his referee.

They all made me very proud to have been involved with their fencing.
